Day 1: Why You’re Here
In a 4-hr intensive designed to dig right down to the core of who you are as an artist and what it is you want most for your work, Roland helps you clearly articulate big meaningful (and attainable) goals for your next big project. By the time your head hits the pillow on Day One, you will know what you came to do.
Day 2: Getting Stuff Down
The longer the gap between having an exciting idea for a new project and getting down to writing and planning, the harder it is for anyone to actually churn out new material. There’s a simple reason for this. Your initial burst of inspiration which causes you sit up and take note of a new idea with real potential has not yet been fleshed out. And so, your emotional connection to it is very much still rooted in wherever you were at the time inspiration hit.
There is one tried and true way to keep fueling your own investment and involvement in something new you’re creating. That is to get down to the business of writing. As soon as you take those first steps toward drafting this new baby, you’re establishing roots that will run right through the heart of you out into the world you inhabit and emerge solidly connectecd to whatever story you’re about to tell.
Day 3: More Getting Stuff Done + Looking Back with Clear Eyes
Nothing exciting gets made without some serious risk-taking. So making art includes making a lot of mistakes. Sometimes they’ll appear in your marketing plan. Other times, a detail of production. When you are the driving force at the heart of a new work, it wouldn’t be surprising to discover some patterns at play, particularly in those stumbles, false starts, miscommunications.
Getting a grip on your unique areas of self-sabotage is step one to clearing the way for the most successful projects to date.
Roland leads the circle through a guided meditation followed by open sharing. Participants are encouraged to get granular as they open up about what went wrong and why. When a group of compassionate artists gather with kindness and curiosity at the ready, change is possible.
There’ll be lots of journaling and list-making all in the name of a gentle forgiving (yet rigorous!) inventory of past work, taking time to better understand how you came to produce your greatest triumphs as well as your greatest disappointments.
Under Roland’s open and gentle guidance, you’ll be amazed at how effortlessly you come to trust the gathered group. And so, in holding nothing back, the workshop circle is provided all the data necessary to see you cleaerly and compassionately.
Day 4: The Dig for Your Core Goal.
Having identified what your next project will be, it’s still essential that you take the time to make a conscious connecting of the dots to your heart. The more in touch you are with why it is you want to leap in this direction, the greater a project steward you become.
Day 5: Mapping out Your Strategy
Finally, Roland will work closely with you to ensure that you return home with a clear action plan.
You have the power to make choices that keep the ball rolling forward. So why is it then that so many worthy projects never get off the ground. Well, for starters, no two creative souls are completely alike. Nor are any two projects. That’s why so many out-of-the-box producing strategies fail so many people. Because Roland’s highest priority as a teacher is always to center your unique gifts and passions, what you get here will be yours and yours alone.
A key to unlocking your own power to plan starts with you identifying what you know about your own good and bad habits. And if you think you only have the latter, Roland is here to help you see the light.
